Adverse Weather Conditions in Chennai (Madras), India
Local News

Dear Valued Customer,

Please be advised that Chennai is experiencing heavy rain pours since early November and the situation is worse in the last two weeks. The continual rainfall leads to flooding and closure of vast areas in Chennai, all forms of transportations are disrupted, the terminals, CFS and depots are operational with frequent stoppages.

Containers inside and outside the terminals and CFS are expected to be affected by the flood, however due to the breakdown of power supply and communications, the whereabouts of the containers and the extent of damage (if any) to them are to be confirmed.

As of 2 Dec 2015, Chennai port operations are suspended, and our Chennai office is closed and will try to resume services as soon as staff safety and infrastructures allow. The weather forecast has indicated the adverse weather will not see improvement within this week.

For shipments on route to Chennai, vessel schedule is affected and will be subject to operation feasibilities in Chennai.

We will keep you posted on any new developments or updates once they become available, and we thank you for your understanding and support.

With regards,
OOCL (India) Private Limited
