Inbound Free Time and Demurrage Charges as from May 15th 2007

As a consequence of terminals operating at full capacity, and sustained import volume growth, we have been faced with deteriorating equipment idle times and soaring storage and shunting costs. We have absorbed these additional costs as long as we could, however with import volumes forecasted to continue to grow and the Peak Season soon upon us, we have no option other than to review both the free time period and our demurrage charges which have been in place since February 2005.

Accordingly please note that effective May 15th 2007, the free time period applicable to standard containers and shippers owned or leased equipment will be reduced from 7 calendar days to 5. Free time period for refrigerated containers will remain unchanged.

Simultaneously, our demurrage charges (which include Quay Rent) applicable to OOCL standard equipment will be reduced by £10 per container per day. For sake of good order the new, reduced charges will be from the 6th day (i.e. after the free time has elapsed) £30 per 20ft (down from £40) and £60 per 40/45ft (down from £70). Charges for other containers will remain unchanged.

We would like to take this opportunity to highlight
www.cargosmart.com our internet portal which can be set up to alert you by e-mail in advance of free time expiring, and since April 2nd can also issue Arrival Notices. This includes the option to receive the Arrival Notices by direct e-mail with multiple recipients as required, online search and print, sharing of the documents with associates and full history log of related activities. We shall be pleased to offer you technical support as deemed necessary.

In the meantime, we take advantage of this opportunity to ask for your assistance, particularly as we approach the peak season, in reducing dwell times of containers on terminals and in moving cargo to their final destination in a timely manner

Should you have any questions pertaining to the above, please do not hesitate to contact our Import Dept, local Customer Service Centre or Area Sales Manager.
