1. Definition of Key Terms

Free time |
Free time shall commence at 00:00am on the first calendar day when container pick up from carrier's facility and shall expire at 00:00am on CY cutoff day. And the storage charge is excluded. Exception for China Inland Points: Free time shall commence at 00:00am on the first calendar day when container pick up from carrier's facility and shall expire at 00:00 upon Full Gate Out. And the storage charge is excluded. |
| Detention |
Detention charges shall commence at 00:00am on the first calendar day following the expiration of Free time whether or not the first or following days are Saturdays, Sundays or Holidays. |
| Import |
Free time |
For port cargo, free time shall commence at 00:00am from the calendar day after vessel arrival and shall expire at 00:00am on the date empty container returns to carrier’s facility. Storage charge will be charged to shipper separately by the marine terminal operator direct. For inland cargo, free time shall commence at 00:00am on the first calendar day after full BL containers are available for pick-up from carrier's designated inland facility and shall expire at 00:00am on the date individual empty container returns to carrier’s facility. Storage charge will be charged to shipper separately by the inland facility operator direct. |
| Detention |
Detention charges shall commence at 00:00am on the first calendar day following the expiration of free time whether or not the first or following days are Saturdays, Sundays or Holidays. |

- ”free time” calculation is based on “working days”, Saturday and Sunday are both defined as working days. - There are 3 days exception for Chinese Lunar New Year Holiday and 3 days exception for China National Day Holiday respectively for which the Detention will not be charged.
- As local practice, consignee will deal with the fee occurs in terminal with port authority directly.
- Special equipment, include dangerous commodities and reefer equipment, the free time is subject to change according to terminal restrictions
- Free time is not applicable to equipment that is picked up and returned after booking terminated.
