1. Road Limitations
- 20ft Container: 25 M.Tons, including Cargo and Container
- 40ft Container: 25 M.Tons, including Cargo and Container
- Max Road Limitation 20ft Flat Truck: 25 M.Tons for in gauge cargo, including Cargo and Container
- Max Road Limitation 40ft Flat Bed Trailer: 25 M.Tons for in gauge cargo, including Cargo and Container
- Limitations for Low bed 20ft & 40ft: Permissions to be obtained according to the wait while clearance in process. With permit papers in order, cargo can be moved.
- If 20ft container weight exceeds the limits, the container will be transported by 40ft flat bed trailer in order to avoid violation and this is the normal practice here in Saudi Arabia.
2. Terminal Limitations
- Gantry Crane: 40 up to 60 tons. (Customer is advised to follow the CSC plate for maximum payload of the container.)
- Maximum Out Reach: 50 up to 60 Meters
- No Holidays except Eid-Al-Fitr (Ramadan) and Eid-Al-Adha
- (Hajj) Festivals 5-10 days each as per lunar calendar

4. Commodity Restriction
Customer is advised to get familiar with both the prohibited and restricted commodities and make confirmation with the concerned parties if necessary so as to avoid unexpected goods loading on board. Attached restricted items for your reference.

5. DG CIRCULAR FOR JEDDAH EFFECTIVE 12TH DEC 2015
All DG shipment/s Import into Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (SAJED) will be subject to new shipment regulations effective 12 December, 2015. It will become mandatory for the consignee to arrange prior approval from the port authorities to ensure cargo discharge in Jeddah.
The process for obtaining approval is as follows:
1.Consignee/importer to submit the approval form to Jeddah port customs for verification of import approvals and obtain no objection endorsement to discharge the cargo in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
2.Consignee/importer to submit verified form to the shipping agent.
3.Shipping agent to complete the form by inserting Bill of Lading number, port of loading, vessel name / voyage, date of arrival and submit the form along with the Hazardous cargo manifest to Jeddah port authority before ship arrival.
Any DG shipment without prior permit will be retained on board the vessel and UASC will not be in position to discharge any containers which have no prior permit after the implementation date.

6. Cargo In Transit (Dammam to Riyadh)
With effect from 1st January 2005, all containers, moving from Dammam to Riyadh by Railroad, containing hazardous cargo should have labels indicating the materials contained and how to deal with, in the event of fire or accident. Failure to comply with the rules will be subjected to fines as declared by Saudi Ports Authorities.
- With effect from March 2005, Saudi Railways will start using double space wagons that require weight information of each container before loading to avoid over-weight limit for these wagons. Non-compliance of the above rules, containers will be rejected for transportation from Dammam Port to RCT Riyadh.
- With effect from March 2008, one side door open containers cannot be loaded from Dammam to Riyadh on the rail wagon due to custom security reason. For any exception, need to obtain prior approval from Custom Director in Dammam.
7. Customs Requirements
- Only the name of consignee is shown in the Arabic/English manifest. However full style inculding telephone/ fax/ telex is required by us for timely advice and follow-up.
- Dangerous cargo (highly explosive), Alcohol, Arms & Ammunition, if any, should be declared in advance. If NIL; declaration is made as Nil. Alcohol not allowed to discharge.
- FCL & LCL manifest should be submitted separately. 10 copies English and 07 copies of Arabic manifest to be submitted to the port.
- Inbound Dammam manifest and Riyadh manifest should be prepared separately from the port of loading for submission to Customs in Dammam Port.
- For cargo release, Original Invoice, Certficate of Origin and Packing List are required. In case of Electrical Appliances, "SASO" (Saudi Arabian Standard Organization) certificate is also required.
8. Vehicle importing policy into Saudi Arabia effective June 8, 2009
- A registered company or Establishment can import cars for commercial purpose but manufacturing date must not exceed more than five (5) years.
- An individual can import two (2) cars in one year (non commercial, only for personal use) but manufacturing date must not exceed more than five (5) years.
- A student studying abroad can import a car (non commercial, only for personal use) more than five (5) years old (subject to pre-approvals and verification with POD is mandatory prior accepting the shipment).
- An expatriate can import one (1) car in one year (non commercial, only for personal use) but cannot sell it for three years and also manufacturing date must not exceed more than five (5) years.
- Archeological cars are allowed to import cars archaeological artifacts before the manufacturing thirty (30) years and over that recorded in the customs card (archaeological acquisition).
- The period of time should not be more than five (5) years for passengers cars, buses and small trucks/ pickups.
- A period not exceeding (10) years for big/heavy trucks that allowed to be imported into the Kingdom.
- Concerned parties not to import cars and trucks which were exposed to a fire or drowning or accidents or collisions, and which were used for rent or police purposes. In case of import such cars and trucks will not be allowed to enter the Kingdom.
